An October Note from Erin...

We had another birthday this month!

Gwynnie turned 4! We threw together a last-minute party and @gymsportjohn came to the rescue and transformed the yard to a kiddo’s dream. If you live in Charlotte, John is awesome for birthdays. He sets up all the equipment outside and the kids love it.

She had her heart set on a unicorn cake, so Georgia and I went Harris Teeter the morning of her party and found this adorable pre-made cake – we went to Walmart and found the cute unicorn toppers! My first job was in high school, and I worked at Baskin Robbins… I was in charge of making all the birthday cakes, so I was fully prepared to write happy birthday on her cake. My girls are asking for a Takes the Cake Pound Cake for their next birthday. I’m so excited…they just started selling the mix and you only need to add a few ingredients. It is absolutely delish and would be perfect for a birthday cake with a little frosting on top. If you're local to Charlotte you can order one here.

We had so much fun…

Shooting for my coffee table book!! As you probably know by now, ever since high school I've wanted to create a coffee table book of my own, and I'm finally making it happen. Helen, who is a dear friend of mine, and a photographer that I’ve used for over 10 years, drove up from Wilmington to spend the day with us getting some photography ready for the book. If you followed along on Instagram, I gave some behind the scenes content throughout the day. Megan came and helped me style the house with the prettiest flowers, plates, and textiles, and of course we shot some jewelry content! Here’s a sneak peek of some of the fun shots we got!

I hope to include my favorite songs, things that make me happy, travel recommendations, recipes, cocktails and more, but I always love your ideas and would love for you to be a part of this book too. I've put together a survey with a series of questions and I would love to hear your thoughts. Click here to fill out the survey.

A fun new addition to our home accessories collection…

We launched our acrylic frame and quote kit this month! You know how much I love quotes and styling bookshelves and tables… Sometimes a few words is all you need to set your mindset for the day or to see things in a different perspective. These are so fun to place around the house. I’ve handwritten each quote and they are easy to swap out of our magnet frames. Each kit comes with 5 cards (each with a different quote) and you can choose how many frames you want!

If you live in Charlotte…

You can now shop my collection at Woo Skincare and Cosmetics on Selwyn Road! They have a little bit of everything in their store and it’s the perfect place to find a gift for anyone on your list this upcoming holiday season.

Had the best time traveling to…

California! You guys know how much I love California and the inspiration it gives me. I met up with two of the people I love most in the World – Carrie and Tina. We try to meet up once a year to have a girls weekend in California and we always have the best time! We ate at Gjelina, shopped around Venice, spent some time at Pelican Hills Resort in Newport Beach, and you know I had to drag them to a cute little boutique hotel, Hotel Joaquin for a drink. I will add all my these spots and more from this trip to this blog post that highlights some of my California favorites soon!

Favorite pieces on repeat these days…

This month I showed some of my closet staples and my favorite pieces of jewelry to pair with each over on Instagram. I got new Birks in California that I haven’t taken off since I bought them! Some people love them, some people hate them, but I love comfort and these are SO comfortable and super easy to pair with jeans and a sweater or my favorite t-shirt. If you’ve been following me for any time at all you know I love a chambray/denim shirt and this jean jacket (that I’ve had for 6 years!!) is my tried and true. These Mother Denim jeans were the only jeans I brought on my trip. Although they aren’t inexpensive, you’ll end up making it worth it with the price per wear. Jeans are tricky and I feel like we all probably have a handful of jeans that fit but never fit “just right” … I finally threw in the towel and bought a pair that fit just right. I also love that they are cropped they look great with these vejas sneakers that are my go-to. Stay tuned for a full October outfit round up on the blog!

Favorite piece I launched…

Too many to name just one!! But I have to say, we launched an online traveling sale which might be one of my favorite collections to date. Most of my inspiration comes from NYC and California. They are so different, but I feel totally alive in each place… I recently visited both and that’s why the traveling sale popped into my mind! There are still some pieces in the sale collection, check them out here.

And don’t forget…

We’re having a front yard pop-up TODAY from 11-3pm in my front yard - 2036 Radcliffe Avenue. My friends from Meanwhile Back on the Farm will be there with a ton of her handcrafted leather bags. Rachel from @rkhome_co will also be there with her new candle scents. Rachel made our signature candle, and I can’t wait for you to see and smell her entire collection. And of course, we will have lot of new jewelry for you to shop! We can’t wait to see you!
